KARACHI: All Pakistan Motorcycle Spare Parts Importers and Dealers Association (APMSPIDA) has demanded of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to reduce 35 per cent customs duty implemented by the federal government in the Budget 2014-15 on the import of motorcycle spare parts.
In a joint statement, Senior Vice Chairman APMSPIDA Khurram Riaz, former president of the association Faisal Khalil and former chairman Rehan Hanif have expressed their deep concerns over the high customs duty on import of motorcycle spare parts.
They were of the view that the federal government should decrease 35 per cent customs duty to 25 per cent, as per the announcement of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the budget.
They said that the high customs duty on one hand will affect the import of motorcycle spare parts in the country, while on the other hand it will certainly put an extra burden on the pockets of middle and poor class people, as most of them were using motorcycles as means of their transportation.
