KARACHI: The deliberation sessions between the office bearers of the All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) and Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) for the formation of a joint cabinet at Customs Agents Association level are continuing.
The sources informed Customs Today that the both agents’ associations i.e. All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) and Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) are trying to get edge over each other, and utilizing all their resources for becoming the premier body of the customs agents. “In these prevailing circumstances, some senior members from both the sides wanted that the office-bearers of both the associations should adopt the way of deliberations and discussion in order to resolve the matter amicably”, sources added.
The sources further disclosed that the office-bearers of KCAA want that some key slots including general secretary and vice president should be given to the members of KCAA in any new formation which would be the mixture of APCAA and KCAA.
However; the incumbent Chairman APCAA Syed Shams Burney and Senior Vice President APCAA-South Arshad Jamal wanted to run the association along with their own members which are registered with the platform of APCAA.
Following the entire development, the office-bearers of APCAA recently sent the letters to FBR Headquarters and authorities concerned in Custom House-Karachi stated that the APCAA is working as solely trade organization which represents the Customs agents and it is the only platform which deals with the matters and issues pertaining to the customs agents’ community. The APCAA office-bearers have taken the said step after getting Court’s order in connection with the activation of said Customs agents’ body.
On the other hand, the office-bearers of KCAA on response have taken NOC from DGTR which stated that the KCAA is authorized to work in its current condition and fully able to raise the issues of Customs agents’ community at the same platform.
During the ongoing situation, it is quite sure that the issues and problems of Customs agents’ community are standing still, as both the organizations instead of resolving the issues of Customs agents are busy in retaining their supremacy.
