MULTAN: Chairman All Pakistan Bed sheets and Upholstery Manufacturing Association strongly opposed the government decision of imposing 10% regulatory duty on the import of cotton yarn from India.
Chairman APBUMA Syed Muhammad Asim stated that this 10 percent regulatory duty imposed on cotton yarn import from India will increase their cost of doing business and this decision will badly affect the manufacturing of the local manufacturer in the country. He termed this new tax on the import cotton yarn as its death warrant and demanding from government to withdraw it immediately for the survival of industry.
The imposition of current duty decision on the cotton yarn will hike the cost of goods produced by the value- added textile sector in the country.
He stated that it is like suicide attack on the value added textile sector and this new tax will destroy the industry and the production will also drop due to this decision.
