RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out raids against drug smugglers across the country and seized 812 kg of narcotics besides arresting 25 suspected smugglers, informed ANF spokesman.
The worth of the seized drugs is Rs 1.6 billion in the international market, he added. ANF also impounded 10 vehicles being used by the smugglers for transporting drugs.
According to him, ANF conducted 23 operations against drug smugglers in various parts of the country and seized 812 kg narcotics. He said the force arrested 25 smugglers including 1 female smuggler involved in drug trafficking besides impounding 10 vehicles. The seized drugs comprised of 610kg prohibited chemical, 132kg opium, 50kg hashish, 14kg heroin and 4.2kg amphetamine, he said. He added that most of the recovered drugs were intended to be smuggled abroad.
ANF Quetta in an intelligence based operation carried out at Tehsil Dalband in District Chagai seized 610 Kg Prohibited Chemical. As per initial information, the drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang. The accused escaped from the spot taking advantage of darkness, he said.
He further said ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Safari Motorcycle without a number plate at GT Road, Mian Jee Hotel near Abbotabad Mor, Tehsil Hassan Abdal, District Attock and recovered 1.2 Kg Hashish from the possession of the accused identified as Sheikh Jamshaid, a resident of Rawalpindi. In another operation ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 Grams Hashish from the possession of the accused identified as Nadeem Masih, a resident of Attock near Ghora Qabristan, Fateh Jang Chowk, District, Attock.
In the third operation ANF Rawalpindi recovered 400 Grams Hashish from the possession of the accused identified as Zohaib , a resident of Gujrat. In the fourth operation ANF Rawalpindi in collaboration with ASF arrested Muhammad Imran, a resident of Sheikhupura at New International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 2.330 Kg Amphetamine which was concealed in his travelling bag. The accused was travelling to KSA by Flight No. WY-0348. In the fifth operation ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Prius at Tarnol Railway Crossing, GT road, Islamabad and recovered 5 Kg Hashish which was concealed in the trunk of the car. A person on board identified as Tahir Alam Khan, a resident of Rawalpindi was also apprehended during the operation. In the sixth operation ANF Rawalpindi arrested Nasir Ali, a resident of Faisalabad at New International Airport and recovered 980 Grams Amphetamine which was concealed in his travelling bag. Accused was travelling to KSA by Flight No. WY-348. In the seventh operation ANF Rawalpindi arrested Said Wali Shah, a resident of Nowshera at the New International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 605 Grams Amphetamine which was concealed in his travelling bag. The accused was travelling to KSA by Flight No. XY-316.
ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Cultus near Motorway Toll Plaza, Kala Shah Kaku, Sheikhupura and recovered 4.8 Kg Hashish from his possession and from secret cavities in the car. A person on board identified as Shah Khalid Khan, a resident of Peshawar was apprehended during the operation. In another operation ANF Lahore arrested Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Bahawalpur at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 560 Grams Heroin which was concealed in his shoes. He was travelling to Malaysia by Flight No. OD-132. In another operation ANF Lahore in collaboration with Punjab Rangers intercepted 2 Honda Motorcycles CG-125 and recovered 2.5 Kg Heroin from the possession of the accused identified as Muhammad Khalid, a resident of Kasur. Furthermore, ANF Lahore recovered 900 Grams Amphetamine from the possession of 2 men identified as Najib Rehman, a resident of Orakzai Agency and Faqir Taj, a resident of Mohmand Agency. They were arrested near Daewoo Terminal, Khanewal Road, Multan. Moreover, ANF Lahore recovered 1.480 Kg Heroin from 3 parcels that were being sent to Canada through Courier Service, Cargo Complex Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. The parcel was booked from a courier service in Sialkot. The heroin was concealed in 74 pairs of gloves.
ANF Peshawar intercepted a Toyota Corolla Car near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and recovered 4 Kg Heroin which was concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two persons on board identified as Anwar Khan,a resident of Khyber Agency and Nabi Gul, a resident of Hangu were also apprehended during the operation. In another operation ANF Peshawar intercepted a Honda Vezel Car Nasir Bagh, Peshawar and recovered 3 Kg Heroin, which was concealed in the doors of the car. Three accused identified as Hakmatiar, Abdul Qadeer and Muhammad Nazir residents of Khyber Agency. The accused, Muhammad Nazir, a resident of Khyber Agency was also arrested, 3 Kg Heroin was recovered from his house near Shahi Bala, Peshawar. ANF Peshawar intercepted a Suzuki Mehran near thr main gate of Peshawar University and recovered 1.2 Kg Hashish which was concealed behind the driving seat of the car. A person on board identified as Kamal, a resident of Khyber Agency was apprehended during the operation. ANF Peshawar recovered 3.3 Kg Heroin from a woman identified as Haseena, a resident of Peshawar who was travelling in a Hiace at Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar. The heroin was wrapped around her body. Furthermore, ANF Peshawar recovered 200 Grams Heroin & 130 Grams Hashish from Muhammad Shahzad, a resident of Peshawar who was also travelling in a Hiace, at Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar. The drugs were concealed in his shoes. Moreover, ANF Peshawar recovered 580 Grams Hashish from Haroon Masih who was travelling in a passenger bus at Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar.

Another Hiace was intercepted by ANF, near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and they recovered 2.4 Kg Hashish which was recovered from the hand bag of Saeed Meen Khan, a resident of Khyber Agency. They also intercepted a Honda Civic near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and recovered 132 Kg Opium and 20 Kg Hashish which was recovered from the trunk of the car.
A person on board identified as Farid Ullah, a resident of Peshawar was also apprehended during the operation.
ANF Karachi intercepted a Toyota Corolla near Taj Mahal Hotel, Sukkur and recovered 9 Kg Hashish. A person on board identified as Ali Raza, a resident of Nawabshsh was also apprehended during the operation. In another operation ANF Karachi recovered 2.2 Kg Hashish from the possession of the accused identified as Ponal Khan Jamali, a resident of Thatta near Nehal Hospital Malir, Karachi. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations under CNS Act 1997 and further investigations are underway, he said.
