ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), in 19 countrywide operations against drug trafficking, has seized Rs 9.8 billion worth of 2.4-tonne of narcotics, including 1,635kg heroin, 781kg hashish, 30kg opium and 1.85kg amphetamine and also arrested 21 persons including a woman involved in drug smuggling and impounded seven vehicles as well.
ANF Quetta in an intelligence-based operation conducted at Qilla Abdullah, seized 1,624kg fine quality heroin by intercepting a Suzuki Pick-up. The ANF on receipt of information regarding smuggling of huge cache of heroin established a road check at the area of Killi Abdul Rehman Zai, Tehsil Gulistan, District Qilla Abdullah. During course of surveillance, a Suzuki Pick-up suddenly stopped at some distance from the ANF road check.
Suspecting the situation, ANF team approached the vehicle and took it into custody. However, persons onboard managed to flee from the scene leaving behind the vehicle. Search of the vehicle led to seizure of fine quality heroin weighing 1,624kg.
In another intelligence-based operation, ANF Quetta seized an unattended Toyota Pick-up near Sami Nullah, Hoshab Road, District Kech, recovering 8kg heroin concealed in its improvised cavities. As per initial reports, the drug was meant for handing over to another narcotics gang.
In addition, ANF recovered 380g heroin from Saleh Mohammad and 350g heroin from possession of Sana Ullah, both residents of Quetta, arresting them separately near City Nullah Grammar School and Radio Station, Quetta respectively.
ANF Rawalpindi, while acting on a tipoff, intercepted a Toyota Corolla car at Taraki Toll Plaza, GT Road, Jhelum, and recovered 10kg hashish from secret cavities of the car. A person on board, identified as Said Gul, resident of Peshawar, was also apprehended during the operation.
In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi apprehended a drug carrier, namely Mohammad Anwar, resident of Swabi, along with 300g heroin. He was arrested near Chungi No. 26, GT Road, Islamabad. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 450g hashish by arresting a local drug peddler identified as Ali Raza resident of Attock. He was arrested near Tarnol Phatak, GT Road, Islamabad. In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 2kg hashish from possession of a drug carrier, namely Habib-ur-Rehman, resident of Charsadda, arresting him near Hattian Bus Stop, GT Road, Attock.
Moreover, ANF Rawalpindi arrested Zulfiqar Khan and Nadeem Khan, both residents of Attock, recovering 800g heroin from their possession. They were arrested while riding on a motorcycle near Mustafa Filling Station, Bolianwal, Attock. As per reports, they were involved in sale of drugs at local level.
ANF Peshawar on pursuance of information intercepted a truck at Daraban Road, DI Khan and recovered 660kg hashish concealed in the truck. Hashish was concealed under the layer of stones loaded on the said truck. Two persons on board, identified as Rehman Ullah and Shad Khan, residents of Khyber Agency were taken into custody. In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested a foreign bound passenger named Sana Ullah resident of Khyber Agency at Peshawar airport, while he was boarding for Dammam via Sharjah by Air Arabia Flight No G9- 557 and recovered 1.85kg Amphetamine concealed in his hand bag.
ANF Lahore stopped a suspected a Suzuki Baleno car near Malik Brothers Good Transport, Thokar Niaz Baig, and Lahore and recovered 27.6kg opium and 33.6kg hashish during search of the car. Drugs were concealed in improvised cavities of the car. Two persons on board identified as Irfan Khan, resident of Lahore, and Nauman Khan, resident of Peshawar, were also arrested on the spot. In another operation, ANF Lahore arrested two local drug peddlers identified as Mohammad Irfan and Abu Sufyan, residents of Mianwali, recovering 2kg opium from their personal possession. They were arrested near Jahaz Chowk, Mianwali.
Yet in another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.2kg hashish by arresting a woman drug peddler, identified as Samina Khan, resident of Lahore. She was arrested at Flah Villas bus stop, Chand Rai New Defence Road, Lahore. In fourth operation, ANF Lahore arrested Syed Kamran Ali Shah, resident of Lahore near Allah Hoo CNG pump, Johar Town, Lahore, recovering 5kg hashish contained in his luggage. As per preliminary investigation, he was engaged in drug supply at city level.
Moreover, ANF Lahore recovered 1kg heroin and 500g opium from an accused, namely Mohammad Babar, resident of Jhang, while he was riding on a motorcycle near Railway Phattak, Toba Road, Jhang.
ANF Karachi in an intelligence-based operation, raided a house located at Mohammadi Mohallah, Lasbela Colony, Karachi and seized 68kg hashish placed at the premises. An accused, namely Badar-ur-Din, resident of Karachi was also taken into custody. In another operation, ANF Karachi seized 630g heroin by intercepting a UK bound parcel being sent through a courier service company. Heroin was concealed inside the jackets. In addition, ANF Karachi arrested two persons, namely Ali Mardan, resident of Karachi and Aqal Din, resident of Waziristan who were involved in local drug peddling, recovering 1.1kg hashish from their personal possession. They were arrested during a raid conducted near supper market, Sohrab Goth, Karachi.
The cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
