ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 748 kilogram hashish and five kilogram heroin in three operations at Chakwal, Faisalabad and Lahore.
The ANF also arrested four drug traffickers and seized three vehicles from them. The worth of the seized drugs is Rs 489 million in international market. The ANF Rawalpindi while carrying out an intelligence-led operation seized 700 kilogram hashish.
According to details, ANF Rawalpindi received information through its source that huge drug consignment is intended to be transported to Punjab. On pursuance of information, a road check was established at Talagang Chakwal Road, near Balkasar Motorway Interchange, district Chakwal. During course of surveillance, a mini truck (Mazda) stopped at some distance from ANF road check. Suspecting the situation, ANF team approached the vehicle and took it into custody. However, the persons on board have already managed to flee from the scene after leaving the vehicle unattended behind.
On searching the vehicle, 700 kilograms of hashish was recovered from the truck. Hashish was placed in metallic boxes. ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Swift car at Thokar Niaz Baig Interchange, and recovered 48 kilograms of hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. Hashish was packed in plastic packets, each containing 1.2 kilograms drug.
Two drug traffickers named Fazal-ur-Rehman and Khan Badshah, both residents of Swat were also arrested during the operation. In another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a car at main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad, recovering five kilograms of heroin from possession of two persons on board identified as Akbar Khan resident of Malakand and Abdul Rehman resident of Nowshehra. All cases have been registered in ANF police stations and investigations are under progress.
