ISLAMABAD: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested 13 persons including two lady smugglers, recovering 581 kg drugs worth of Rs 1.35 billion.
ANF in a drive against drug trafficking carried out 11 operations at various cities of the country, said a press release.
The operations resulted in recovery of 532 kg charas, 45 kg opium, 3 kg heroin, 1 kg amphetamine and 48000 psychotropic tablets (Xanax) and seized three vehicles.
ANF also arrested three members of a gang involved in supply of drugs to academic institutions in twin cities.
ANF Rawalpindi while acting on an information, conducted operation against a drug network involved in supply of drugs to academic institutions of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, apprehended three culprits namely Habib Ullah, Bilal Suleman and Zeeshan Tariq.
The operations also resulted in recovery of 640 gram charas, 85 gram amphetamine (Ice) and ecstasy tablets, from their personal possession.
According to details, the culprits used to supply drugs to the students of educational institutions, particularly private institutions at twin cities.
ANF Rawalpindi arrested two local drug peddlers namely Muhammad Imran and Rehmat, both residents of Attock along with recovery of 500 grams heroin, which was found in their personal possession. They were arrested near Ghazi Barotha Canal Bridge, GT Road, Attock, while riding on a motorcycle.
ANF Rawalpindi team during an information based operation arrested a local drug peddler identified as Muhammad Latif along with recovery of 500 grams charas. He was arrested while riding on a motorcycle near Rawalpindi Phatak, Chakwal City.
ANF Lahore on pursuance of an intelligence report seized an unattended bag from parking area of Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 480 grams ice (amphetamine) from the bag.
ANF Lahore Wahga Border team during routine checking near Wahga Border Railway Station, seized an unattended polythene bag containing 1.96 kg heroin from air break pressure tank of goods train 68 Down Lahore.
ANF Peshawar on pursuance of an information raided a suspected premises situated near Dastagir Flour Mills Nasirpur Bus Stop GT Road, Peshawar.
The operation resulted in seizure of 418 kg charas from the premises, which was being used as Godown. Two individual identified as Fazal Rehman and Gulnaz Begum present on the scene were taken into custody. As per initial information, the drugs were intended to be dispatched to different parts of the country.
ANF Peshawar road check team intercepted a Truck No. C-1840 at Ring Road Peshawar. During search of the truck, 96 kg charas and 44.4 kg opium were recovered from secret cavities of the truck.
According to preliminary information, drugs were intended to be transferred to different areas of Punjab. The occupants of the truck including Bashir Khan and Ismail Khan, both residents of Mardan were also taken into custody during the operation.
ANF Peshawar Road check team arrested a local drug supplier namely Mujeeb-ur- Rehman, resident of Kohat and recovered 2.4 kg charas from his personal possession. He was arrested near Spin Ghar, Mian Iqbal Hotel Hangu Phatak, Kohat.
ANF Peshawar road check team during routine checking near Spin Chowk, Khyber Teaching Hospital University Stop, Peshawar, recovered 500 grams heroin from a lady drug trafficker namely Shaheen Kausar, resident of Sargodha. As per details, the lady intended to smuggle Heroin to Punjab for Local consumption.
ANF Peshawar Airport team during routine surveillance at Peshawar Airport detained a suspected passenger namely Fazal-e-Haq, resident of Mardan.
During search of his luggage 550 grams ice (amphetamine) was recovered from his trolley bag. He was to take off for Sharjah by Air Arabia Flight No.G9-557.
ANF Karachi Airport team detained a passenger Muhammad Musa Dil, resident of Karachi at Jinnah International Airport Karachi and recovered 48,000 psychotropic tablets (Xanax) from his luggage. The accused intended to board for Jeddah by Air Blue Airlines Flight No.PA-170.
ANF Karachi on pursuance of a source information, held two local drug suppliers namely Hidayat Ullah and Ghulam Rasool Solangi, both residents of Khairpur from Village Bakhshwan, District Khairpur.
The operation resulted in recovery of 15 kg charas and 1 kg opium which was concealed in their luggage. As per initial reports, they intended to distribute the drugs to nearby locations.
Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective police stations and investigations are under process
