MADRID: Amazon Spain has partnered with supermarket chain Dia to launch a fresh food sales trial in a Dia store in Madrid, reports website Alimarket.
The 1,000 square-meter establishment in the Cuatro Vientos suburb will have a dedicated area with workers preparing the fresh food orders received from Amazon customers, said the report, citing a number of unnamed sources. The news comes after the e-commerce giant launched its Prime Now service in Spain, offering 7-days a week grocery deliveries in Madrid to Amazon Premium clients.
With a minimum order value of EUR 19, around 18,000 product lines can be delivered in an hour for a charge of EUR 5.90 or in two hours for free, said Amazon in July. Madrid-based Premium clients can make orders using the Prime Now app available for iOS and Android or visit the company’s website. Amazon Spain launched grocery deliveries for a range of non-perishable food and cleaning products back in September 2015.
