KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB/R&D) has detected a massive tax evasion (under-invoicing) case amounting to Rs8.9million against the importer M/s Adamjee Limited in import of auto-parts.
The sources informed Customs Today that Collector-MCC Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem, taking action on the information, the Collector-MCC Appraisement (West) Muhammad Saleem has formed a team supervised by Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafique along with Principal Appraiser Abdul Qayyum, Appraising Officer (AO) Shair Khan and Examining Officer Anwar Zaib.
The AIB team after scrutinising the data found that the importer M/s Adamjee Limited through under-invoicing imported three to four consignments of auto-parts on which the importer attempted to evade legitimate duty/taxes amounting to Rs8.9million.
After detecting the under-invoicing, the AIB/R&D authorities concerned have sent demand notice to the importer M/s Adamjee Limited in order to deposit legitimate duty/taxes.
The sources further informed this scribe that the AIB/R&D authorities concerned have prepared reminders against those importers who have not yet paid their legitimate duty/taxes in import of different consignments.
