FAISALABAD: Additional Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to owner of non-duty paid smuggled foreign origin ladies art silk cloth 180 rolls weighing 348 kilograms worth Rs2.3 million from Shahkot Toll Plaza Sheikhupura Road.
Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat on a tip-off constituted a special team under the supervision of Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal to foil the smuggling bid and deployed it on the Sheikhupura Road. The team on suspicion stopped Mazda truck and recovered huge quantity of smuggled ladies art silk cloth.
Therefore, the officials impounded items under the customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person namely Azmat Ali on the violation of Section 2(S) read with SRO No 566(1)/2005 of the Customs Act 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why impounded goods is not fell under aforementioned provisions of the law.
However the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing on 17-3-2019. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
