LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Standing Committee on FMCG Sector’s Convener Mohammad Ijaz Tanveer while lauding the steps taken by the Prime Minister Imran Khan to curb the smuggling of Iranian petrol, has demanded similar steps for eradicating the smuggling of imported food items.
Talking to newsmen, he said that the entire business community not only appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister against the scourge of smuggling but also stood by the government. He also demanded that similar concrete steps be taken to curb the smuggling of imported food items to discourage the smuggling mafia.
Legal importers who pay crores of rupees to the government in the form of taxes should not incur business losses. They should be able to play an important role in the development of the country by increasing their business activities. This will result in an increase but also help in eliminating unemployment, he concluded.
