KARACHI: Customs Valuation acting Director General Abdul Rasheed Shaikh assured delegation of All Pakistan Garments Importers Association (APGIA) that their issues will be resolved as soon as possible.
According to the details, the delegation of APGIA held a meeting with the acting director general and presented their grievances related to the valuation of the imported garments.
During the meeting, the delegation of the garments importers expressed their concern over higher values of garments fixed by the valuation department and requested DG Abdul Rasheed Shaikh for revising the value of garments.
The delegation stated that the values of readymade garments were enhanced by the Customs Valuation by two to eight times without taking the stakeholders into confidence whereas the basic concept of transnational values has been avoided.
Acting Director General Abdul Rasheed Shaikh directed the Customs Valuation director to prepare a report regarding the grievances of the All Pakistan Garments Importers Association (APGIA) and submit it till August 30.
Earlier, the delegation also held a meeting with Advisor to PM on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan here on last Wednesday on higher customs values of garments fixed by the valuation department on which the Advisor Finance Haroon Akhtar Khan directed the department to settle the matter.
