ABU DHABI: Police have arrested five suspects and seized 22kg of heroin with a street value of Dh10 million in five separate operations at airports including Dubai, Muscat and Milan.
Colonel Dr Rashid Mohammad Bursheed, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Abu Dhabi Police, said that information presented by Abu Dhabi police to the Ministry of Interior’s General Administration of Federal Drug Control was reported to the specialised units. This led to foiling the attempt to smuggle 22 kilograms of heroin drug, estimated at more than Dh1.5 million if sold wholesale and around Dh10 million if sold as retail.
Five people of different Asian and African nationalities were held, two at Dubai airport, one at Muscat airport, one at Milan airport, and a fifth person was held after his attempt to push 17.5 kilos of drugs in one of the UAE’s emirates.
