ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, chairing the 7th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy here at the PM’s House, has said that the government is struggling hard to increase power generation in short span of time and add additional electricity to the national grid by this summer.
The prime minister directed to undertake long-term efficient projects to reduce power load-shedding and provide electricity to people at affordable rates. He said that alternate sources of energy including solar and wind power must also be tapped to reduce dependence on one source.
He said that all impediments in the way of speedy generation of electricity should be removed. The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the ministers for Water and Power, Petroleum, Planning, Finance and Railways. Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and Minister of State for Petroleum Jam Kamal were also present. The meeting reviewed progress on implementation of decisions taken in previous meetings.
