ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that the government was striving hard to materialise the dream of Pakistan-China trade corridor.
While briefing members of Federal Cabinet about the performance of his ministry here, the minister said that the Planning and Development Ministry had focused the preparation of Vision 2025 since inception of the government. He declared that Vision 2025 was finalised after consultation with all relevant quarters and analysing development plans of developed nations.
Mr Iqbal said that the government had set the target to achieve six per cent growth rate till 2018. The minister said implementation of Vision 2025 was key priority of the Ministry of Planning and Development and a Monitoring and Delivery Unit had been formed for the purpose.
He said that Planning Commission has been revived and staffed with top class human resource to realise the Government’s development goals. He said we have helped save Rs500 billion during the last fifteen months because of better scrutiny of projects. He emphasised the need for enhancing development fund to gear up the growth rate as well as transfer the fruits of development to the common man.
Ahsan said they are also working on civil service reforms. It is a five step process and will be completed in three months. He said Key Performance Indicators have been formed on institutional level.
