OSLO: A $450m contract which will see a power systems business link the power grids of the UK and Norway is to benefit Stone.
ABB has won the contract to supply the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations that will tie the new North Sea Network (NSN) Interconnector, the electricity line that will connect Blythe to Norway.
The firm will oversee the project from its Power Systems centre in Stone.
Speaking from the Stone site, Karen Strong, spokesman for ABB said: “We have about 470 people on site in stone, which is an engineering centre of excellence, and winning this contract means we can continually recruit new talent, including apprentices and graduates.
