KARACHI: As many as 4,434 used cars were imported into the country during the first two months of the current fiscal year ended August 31, according to the statistics compiled by the All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association (APMDA).
Of the total cars imported during the first two months, 4,374 were imported under the Personal Baggage Scheme while the remaining 59 were imported under the Transfer of Residence (TR) Scheme.
Not a single car was imported under the gift scheme during this period.
As many as 3,427 cars (1000cc) were imported during this period.
Used cars between 1601cc and 1800cc were the second top choice of importers. A total of 487 were imported under the Personal Baggage and TR schemes.
A total of 321 used cars with engine power between 1301-1500cc were imported. Only 14 used cars of 1001-1300cc and 3 between 1801-3000cc were imported during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
A total of 179 4×4 used jeeps were imported; 177 under the Personal Baggage Scheme and 2 under the TR Scheme.
During the same period, as many as 3,933 used cars were imported – 3,895 under the Personal Baggage Scheme and 38 under the TR Scheme.
In addition to the 4,434 used cars, as many as 255 used vans; 24 used pick-ups and 14 used motorcycles were also imported during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
