LAHORE: National Transmission & Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL) is putting hectic efforts in place to complete installation of 126Km-long 220 KV twin bundle Chashma-Bannu transmission line well before its stipulated time.
The NTDCL spokesman told APP here Monday that transmission line would disperse an addition 600MW quantum of electricity from Chashma Nuclear Power Plant.
He said, the company had launched an effective power transmission programme to efficiently disperse the power from generation plants to DISCOs (power distribution companies), load centers to curb forced load-shedding in the country.
To a question, he said that a number of power dispersal projects in the pipeline, funded through International Donors: World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the NTDCL own arrangements.
The project in hand funded through local financial arrangements was being constructed on twin bundle configuration by using ACSR Rail Conductor, which was to be completed before schedule, and would go a long way in transmitting power to load centers in KPK province to expansion system and economic activity in PESCO and TESCO areas, he maintained.
Following the signing of contract agreement held on 13 May 2014, he said, the high voltage transmission project was pursued with an ambitious execution plan to get the project completed in scheduled time of 450 days despite of security issues and Indus River crossing. The NTDCL accepted the challenge and started with the project at fast track with proactive site development plan and continued to work with full vigor and zeal.
Up till now, 377 tower foundations out of total 383 towers had been concreted. On parallel, 253 towers had also been erected at site, while stringing of conductor from 60km line along with OPGW had also been done. Currently the most difficult portion pertaining to construction of tower foundation in flowing Indus River is at full swing, he elaborated.
Dilating upon the commitment and efforts being done for completion of the NTDCL projects, he said, the NTDCL had already enhanced its transformation capabilities of 5400 MVA augmentation by means of completion of new grid stations at existing stations and transmission network augmentation and Transmission Networking in last two year.
Completion of 360 tower foundations in lesser number of 224 days, erection of 253 towers together with completion of 47 km stringing work in itself speaks volumes about the dedication of the NTDCL engineers and the contractor.
