BIRMINGHAM: Two Mexican men were indicted by a federal grand jury in Birmingham for knowingly transporting illegal aliens through Greene County, according to U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance.
Roldan Palacious-Rincon, 31, and Martin Rodridguez-Guadarrama, 33, are accused of transporting five people who they knew were in the U.S. illegally through Greene County on Nov 9.
The six-count indictment claims they transported the illegal aliens for private financial gain.
If they are convicted, the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $100,000 fine, according to Vance.
A third man, Jeronimo Mejia, 52, was also charged with illegally re-entering the U.S. after he was convicted of a felony and deported. The maximum penalty for re-entering the country illegally is 20 years in prison and a $200,000 fine.
