ISLAMABAD: 14 senators failed to file their tax returns including former interior minister Rehman Malik and PML-N Sardar Zulfikar Khosa and their names have not been including in the parliamentarians tax directory issued by the Federal Board of Revenue.
Others senators who are among the non-filers of income tax returns for TY 2013 included Mohammad Azam Khan Hoti of Awami National Party (ANP), Abdul Rauf of Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri of Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A), Mir Mohammad Ali Rind of (BNP-A), Nawabzada Mohammad Akbar (Independent), Saeedul Hassan Mandokhel of PML-Q, Robina Irfan of PML-Q, Eng Malik Rasheed Ahmad from Fata, Idrees Khan Safi from Fata, Farhat Abbas of PPP, Zahid Khan of ANP and Hari Ram of PPP.
According to parliamentarians’ tax directory, Col (r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of MQM, Gul Mohammad Lot of PPP and Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan Nasir of PML-N neither paid tax nor Income Support Levy. The directory shows that Minister for Finance Mohammad Ishaq Dar paid Rs824,891 tax while he is among the few senators who also paid Rs2,701,786 Income Support Levy. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid paid Rs20,959 tax while he paid no Income Support Levy. Abbas Khan Afridi paid the highest Rs17,991,618 tax followed by Talha Mehmood of JUI-F who paid Rs12,940,990 as tax, but the two failed to pay Income Support Levy. Senator Naseema Ehsan of BNP-A from Balochistan paid the lowest Rs6,750 as tax while she did not pay any Income Support Levy.
