PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that 12 gigantic water and irrigation projects, with an estimated cost of one billion rupees would be constructed in Mohmand Agency which would improve the living standard of the tribal people to a great extent.
He was talking to a delegation of elders of Mohmand Agency which called on him at Ghalanai. The delegation was led by Senator Hilarur Rahman.
He said that all those projects would be completed under the FATA Water Resource Development Project (FWRDP) to be funded by the Asian Development Bank. Feasibility of all the projects has been prepared and work on the projects would start soon, he added.
It may be recalled that these projects include 5 small dams: Jay Dam, Tanga Danish Cool Dam, Haider Khan Dam, Qasim Khel Dam and extension of Machni Dam Irrigation System and provision of auxiliary spillway.
Moreover, the irrigation projects are Maddar Irrigation Subproject, Head Kalay Weir Subproject, Mandara Kalay Weir Subproject, Sara Shah Kalay Weir Subproject, Danish Coll Weir Subproject, Ganjianu Weir Subproject and Soral Kalay Weir Subproject.
The Governor stated that for the most backward tehsils of Khwezai, Baizai, Safi, Prang Ghar and Patiali an integrated development plan would be devised under the Area Development Plan and special package would be implemented so that all those tehsils could be brought at par with the developed areas of Mohmand Agency.
