ISLAMABAD: The Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), under the supervision of Secretary Water and Power Muhammad Younas Dhaga, has prepared the Security Package Agreements to facilitate fast-track implementation of coal projects at Thar, Sindh, Salt Range and Punjab.
The documents have been forwarded to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet for approval. Explaining the agreements, Younas Dhaga said in order to develop the upcoming coal power projects on a fast track basis, it was inevitable to prepare the Security Package Agreements, which shall enable the companies to achieve their financial closure expeditiously.
In order to facilitate the project sponsors to achieve a financial closure and move ahead with the construction activities, the board approved extension of Letter of Support of the 100MW Gulpur Hydropower Project to be located at Poonch River, District Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The agreements include the Implementation Agreement (IA) and Power Purchase Agreement. The documents have been prepared by the PPIB after due consultations with the relevant government and private sector stakeholders and the pertinent coal specific changes have been incorporated. After seeking comments from the related ministries and departments, the same will be submitted to the ECC of the cabinet for approval.
