Sources told Customs Today that the committee head ADC Saeed Akram has convicted customs officials in case, who were allegedly involved in clearance of vehicles after the age-limit and violated SRO144 (I)/2011.
The names of around 12 customs officials, including collector, additional collectors, principal appraisers and appraisers were included in the charge sheet, who were deployed on that time in the Car Group (Group-VII).
Sources further said that the report prepared by the ADC-Saeed Akram would be sent to FBR Headquarters for further legal proceedings. However; another inquiry regarding the shortfall of surcharge in importation of vehicles under amnesty scheme is being conducted by the ADC-Irfan Javed.
It may be mentioned here that the FBR was previously conducted the inquiry into same matter by the ADC Umer Shafique, who also convicted the Customs officials and officers into the said case.
Sources further informed Customs Today that the Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA) has concluded its investigation into the vehicles amnesty case and will submit its findings before the FIA Sindh Director Shahid Hayat for further proceedings.
