LONDON: The triple moon shadow transits across Jupiter about an hour back and as of now two shadows are already visible across the planet’s disc that of Callisto and Io. The sequence of events has already begun at 4:30 AM GMT January 24 [11:30 PM EST, 8:30 PM PST January 23] and will last till 0700 GMT (2:00 AM EST, 11:00 PM PST).
Since about 3:11 am Callisto’s shadow has been visible across Jupiter’s disc and by 4:35 am Io’s shadow is also across Jupiter. At 4:55 am, Io began its transit of Jupiter.
