MULTAN: Collector Customs Adjudication Saleem Ahmad Ranjha adjourned the Commander Agro Private Limited case regarding the mis-declaration on import of chemical for indefinite period.
Commander Agro (Pvt) Limited, manufacturer of pesticides, feed grades and agricultural byproducts was allegedly involved in mis-declaration on the import of Zinc Sulphate worth Rs 25 million. The company imported several consignments of Zinc Sulphate monohydrate for manufacturing of feed grade.
During the chemical examination of imported consignments of Zinc Sulphate, customs found 400 bags of Lambda-Cyhalothrin chemical that were being cleared under the PCT heading of Zinc Sulphate.
Owner of Commander Agro, Rafiq before the Collector Customs Adjudication Saleem Ahmad Ranjha blamed that Model Customs Collectorate Multan has tampered the chemical examination report to lodge a case against him and claimed that he has not committed any violation of law.
On the other hand, Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik presented the record of WEBOC, automated system to counter his arguments during the proceeding of case and said that accused has accepted charges, built by customs authorities regarding the mis-declaration on import of chemicals has paid evaded amount Rs 7 million to MCC Multan.
Deputy Collector Multan Dry Port, Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik argued that the price of Lambda-Cyhalothrin was $36 per kg while the price of Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate was $23 per kg. He added that the company tried to evade customs duty Rs 7million through mis-declaration as there were 400 bags of Lambda-Cyhalothrin. The Multan Dry Port has sent contravention report to the Customs Adjudication after collecting the Rs 7million customs duty.
Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik, also presented the chemical examination report of imported chemicals which was examined twice for the confirmation of ingredients found during the chemical examination.
The case proceeding remained continues for three hours after which Collector Customs Adjudication Saleem Ahmad Ranjha adjourned the case for indefinite period.
