ISLAMABAD – The Quantum Index Number (QIM) of Large-Scale Manufacturing (LSM) industries stood at 118.29 points during first six months of fiscal year 2014-15 as compared to 115.23 points of the preceding year, registering an increase of 2.65 percent, showed the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The LSM recorded 2.65 percent growth during July to December of Fiscal Year 2015 over the corresponding period previous year, and expanded by 2.35 percent in the month of December over the same period last year. The growth in the industrial output witnessed a decelerated trend in September and October 2014, but rebounded in November and December.
In the first half of FY2015, the industrial growth had recorded growth of 2.65 percent due to growth in 11 categories of items over the corresponding month of last year, reported the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Major contribution towards positive growth in LSM performance in July-December 2014-15 was from textile 0.66 percent; coke and petroleum products, 2.69 percent, electronics 9.66 percent, iron and steel products 31.01 percent, chemicals 5.64 percent, non-metallic mineral products 3.89 percent, rubber products 3.17 percent, pharmaceuticals 4.63 percent, automobiles 12.53 percent and leather products 23.46 percent.
