LAHORE: The Punjab Ranger have foiled a bid to smuggle alcohol from India at Wahga Border here on Saturday.
As per details, Indian smugglers were crossing Wahga Border, when rangers caught them with 49 smuggled alcohol bottles.
According to the Punjab Rangers spokesman, jawans were busy in their routine patrolling when some suspects were seen coming from India to Pakistan. Rangers asked them to stop and handed over them to law, but they retaliated the orders of rangers party.
During firing between the smugglers and Punjab rangers, the suspects fled away. The rangers recovered 49 bottles of Indian made alcohol.
Director General Ranger Punjab Major General Umer Farooq Barki has appreciated the skills and activity of the rangers, who foiled the bid to smuggle alcohol at Wahga Border. He further said that investigation against the smugglers is underway and they will be behind the bars.
