LAHORE: The Punjab government will approach the federal government on farmers’ issues pertaining to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in connection with general sales tax.
This was stated by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif while talking to farmers’ representative.
After successful dialogues between negotiating team of the Punjab government headed by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and representatives of the farmers, the cultivators announced to end their protest.
Representatives of government team including Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Imdad Ullah Bosal and others led by Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif held talks with representatives of farmers at Central Secretariat of Muslim League-N Model Town.
The farmers’ representatives were assured that cases registered against some farmers on the allegations of protest will immediately be withdrawn. Farmers demanded increase in support price of wheat, while Hamza Shahbaz Sharif assured farmers that the Punjab government will take an acceptable decision on it.
He said that efforts will also be made to bring the prices agricultural inputs at reasonable level on the pattern of prices of other commodities due to reduction in petroleum products’ prices.
