MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate Multan has collected Rs 1.84 million in taxes levied on cargo booked through the General Post Office during February.
Customs officials handled the cargo worth Rs 1.49 million sent through the GPO during the eighth month of the current fiscal year.
The Multan Customs generated duty to the tune of Rs 89,897 during the same period. Customs has appointed special teams at the Multan GPO to monitor cargo to eliminate smuggling of illegal items, as the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized smuggled items from booked cargo many times.
Customs Superintendent Yousaf Baloch is responsible for the collection of duty tax at the Multan GPO.
