KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate-MCC of Exports, while continuing its efforts to recover outstanding government dues, has served a demand notice on MT Traders under Rule 135 of Customs Recovery Rules, 2001 to recover Rs 1.165 million.
The Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of MCC-Exports, on the directives of Collector Manzoor Memon, has issued notice against MT Traders in terms of non-payment of government dues on account of custom duty and other leviable taxes. In the demand notice, the authorities concerned of MCC-Exports stated that it was certified that all other formalities under the Customs Act and Recovery Rule have been completed by the Special Recovery Cell (SRC) of MCC-Exports and there is no bar existed and say order against the recovery demand notice.
In the demand notice, it is further requested that the authorities concerned of SRC to recover the mentioned government dues i.e. Rs 1,165,059 in terms of Section 202 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of Customs Act) from the importer M/s M T Traders, adding that the government dues may be remitted to Assistant Collector Dr Jam Muhammad Imran as soon as same are recovered. The sources informed Customs Today that Collector, MCC-Exports Manzoor Memon has issued clear directives to all authorities concerned in terms of recovering government dues from importers and exporters.
The sources further informed this scribe that the Collectorate has left no stone unturned in recovering the non-paid government dues from the defaulters. It is pertinent to mention here that the MCC-Exports has initiated recovery campaign for last three months or so and recovered millions of rupees during the said campaign while the recovery campaign is still continuing and the SRC of MCC-Exports is determined to issue more demand notices against the defaulters in upcoming days for recovering the government dues in terms of duty and taxes.
