LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the Punjab Revenue Authority from collection of sales tax from travel agents.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court during hearing of the case against sales tax on services of travel agents ordered Punjab Government to submit their reply before February 9. The court also directed the Punjab Revenue Authority to get 16 percent sales tax from the travel agents.
A number of travel agents have moved the court against 16 percent sales tax on services of travel agents.
During hearing of the case, Hamza Humayon, counsel for travel agents said that the PRA has no authority to receive this tax from travel agents so the court should order to stop it. The LHC asked for reply from the Punjab government till February 9 and adjourned the case for further proceedings.
