DEHLI: Indian Leather exports crossed 5.6 billion dollars mark within last nine months against 4.37 billion dollars in 2013.The new target to export leather fixed at 7.32 billion dollars for 2015.
Finished leather, footwear and leather goods and accessories have each crossed the $1 billion-mark. The growth was led by footwear (25 per cent), footwear components (20 per cent) and saddlery and harness (18.50 per cent).
Though this sector has been posting double digit growth in exports month-on-month basis from April onwards, it posted single digit growth during October and December. Out of six categories, exports during December slumped in three categories.
