KARACHI: The Input Output Co-efficient Organization(IOCO) of Federal Board of Revenue is facing enormous problems in surveying the manufacturing units in Karachi as the importers are not taking the survey process being continued by the IOCO serious, Customs Today learnt on Wednesday.
The sources said that the importers after taking provisional certificates from filed formation Collectorates think that they have been exempted by survey conducted by IOCO at regular intervals in order to examine and evaluate the manufacturing capacity of the of importer against the provisional certificate acquired by them. They asserted that when the authorities concerned of IOCO informed any importer through letter for conducting survey of its manufacturing unit, most of the importers often replied that their officials/officers concerned dealing with survey process are not available.
“Several reminders and letters have been sent by the authorities concerned to many importers for surveying their manufacturing units, but no reply is yet received by the authorities concerned,” they added. The sources claimed that the lethargic approach of importers is badly affecting the survey process of the manufacturing units which certainly causes colossal loss to the national revenue.
It is pertinent to mention here that FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa in his recent meeting during his visit to Custom House, Karachi has emphasized on proper survey of the manufacturing units for checking the authenticity of the existence of the manufacturing units in Karachi.
