KARACHI: Federal Government is mulling over to issue a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) by the end of fiscal year 2013-14 offering provision of amnesty for non-taxpayers in order to pay their legal duty/taxes without paying the fine/penalty and redemption on their confiscated goods with Pakistan Customs.
Sources in FBR informed Customs Today that the federal government is going to announce a general pardon within a week or so through an SRO for non-taxpayers, who had not paid their legal duty/taxes on import of their consignments while their cases have been stuck in Customs Adjudication.
They further told this scribe that different governments in the past 10 years have been introducing amnesty schemes in the final month of every fiscal year in which they have been giving the opportunity to non-taxpayers to pay their legal taxes without submission of fine and penalty.
“The main aim of the issuance of the said SRO is to increase the revenue status by the end of fiscal year 2013-14,” the sources added.
