ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended the performance allowance of 62 officials between Grade 17 and 19 for not submitting their income tax returns.
The FBR has issued a notification in this regard. However, the FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa has barred the officials concerned from publishing the notification on the official website.
According to the notification, if the officials did not submit their tax returns in three months their performance allowance will be suspended for an indefinite period.
Among these officials 32 belong to Inland Revenue, 26 Pakistan Customs Group and four are former employees. The officials have deposited their income tax, but action has been taken against them for not submitting their income tax returns.
FBR Member Administration Shahid Hussain Jatoi has not only taken action against these officials, but has also shown his anger. He said the officials needed to make a good precedent for the general public.
