ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Director General Haroon Tareen has formed teams to control illegal flow of different gadgets into Pakistan.
As per detail, different home appliances, computers, printers, entertainment products and other electronic items, purchase from GITEX Shopper Festival Dubai, are supplied in Pakistan through illegal carriers and channels that affect the local market as well as revenue generation negatively.
GITEX shopper is going to hold in Dubai from 01-04 April that is a renowned festival with power retailers and world class brands.
According to sources, a large number of Pakistani businessmen visit GITTEX event to purchase item worth of millions of rupees, while these items are brought to Pakistan by using illegal resources just to avoid leviable taxes.
Sources said that FBR has sent its informers to Dubai, UAE for getting information of such businessmen and these informers will inform I&I teams.
Reportedly, the teams are being headed by Hassan Bin Izhar, Assistant Director at Islamabad, Saad Waqas, Deputy Director at Lahore and Asif Abro, Assistant Director at Karachi.
Director General, Intelligence & Investigation Haroon Tareen also directed concerned officers to arrest all those tax evaders under Sales Tax Act, 1990 who will bring products from Dubai without paying their tax liability.
