ISLAMABAD: Following the zero tolerance policy against corruption, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is going to extend investigations against 350 officers form BS-16 to BS-20 on the charges of corruption, departmental irregularities, violation of rules and regulation and misuse of power.
As per the details, Pakistan Customs inspectors, superintendents, deputy superintendents, principal appraisers, appraisers and officers of Inland Revenue Services of BS-16 are under the cloud of investigations.
On the other hand, officers of BS 16-20, including assistants, additional collectors, deputy commissioners, deputy directors, collectors and commissioners are included in the list of non-compilers.
As per initial investigations, all these 350 officers have been found involved in heinous crimes, while further investigation is underway on available evidence against them.
Admin Member Shahid Hussain Jatoi is of the view that corrupt officers are damaging the reputation of the department that is not acceptable at all, adding that the FBR has no space for corrupt elements.
It is important to mention here that the FBR never conducted such kind of investigations at the high level against the high-ups in the past.
Now, on the instructions of the FBR chairman, the Administration Wing has been empowered fully to take stern action to eliminate the menace of corruption from the department, while the department is taking action on valid evidence against officers to avoid injustice.
