KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Bajwa Tuesday inaugurated Souvenir Shop at the ground floor of Customs House, Karachi.
He was accompanied by Member (Customs) of the FBR Nisar Muhammad Khan, while performing the inauguration ceremony of the Souvenir Shop.
The Souvenir Shop offers a wide range of mementos, paintings, diaries, mugs, T- shirts, baseball caps, decorative copperware items, small clocks embedded in quality-finished wood, diaries and other such items- all with Custom House Karachi.
A total of eight paintings by artist M. Nasir Khan also make up the mosaic of items offered at the Souvenir Shop. All these paintings pertain to the architectural beauty and historical value of Customs buildings in Karachi including the old Custom Building, Customs Board House building, the Customs Club building, etc.
Surrounded by glass-walls on three-sides and the wall on the fourth and situated next to the cafeteria, the Souvenir Shop is strategically located on the ground floor of the Custom Office right in front of public elevators.
The opening of the Souvenir Shop would definitely attract not only curious buyers but also instill interest about the Customs department which has a long distinguished history of its own- particularly the magnificent buildings that served as its offices in the past. The Customs Today was informed by the sole Souvenir Shop attendant that the shop would remain open six days a week from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.
It is pertinent to mention here that Tariq Bajwa also held meetings with the top Customs officials during his visit to Karachi.
