KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has finally appointed two senior officers of BS-19 simultaneously at the Appraisement-West in order to fill the sanctioned vacancies of the officers of Grade-19 at the collectorate.
According to details, the FBR through a notification appointed Irfan Wahid (BS-19) and Farrukh Sharif (BS-19) at the Appraisement-West.
Subsequently, the Appraisement-West has given the responsibilities of Group-II (Ch.28-38), Group-III (Ch.39-49) Licensing, CRA, Adjudication (ADC level), Customs Laboratory, Pre-Audit, and Supervision of WeBOC role for printing cheques to Additional Collector-III Irfan Wahid.
Meanwhile, Additional Collector-V Farrukh Sharif has been assigned the responsibilities of Group-I (Ch.01-27), Group-VI (Ch.84-85), Bank Guarantee Cell, Recovery Cell, Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC), Public/Private Bonds and Warehousing, Import Section, Transshipment, SRO 492 and Temporary Imports, Internal Stock Taking and auction of unserviceable government purchased stocks.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Appraisement-West was facing an acute shortage of BS-19 officers for the last five months, as the sanctioned strength came down to four with the transfer of Farrukh Sajjad to the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Karachi Region. The said shortage was further aggravated with the departure of Additional Collector Dr Ifthikar Ahmed, who went on training in February.
The departure of two senior officers during the timeframe of just three months resulted in tremendous work pressure on the available strength of additional collectors, which stood at three.
It may be mentioned here that Customs Today in its previous publications had already disclosed that the sanctioned strength of the ADCs would be fulfilled by the start of the current week.
