LONDON: Fake cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol have been seized after raids on businesses in Hemel Hempstead and Tring.
A joint operation by Herts County Council’s trading standards officers, HM Revenue and Customs, the police and an environmental health officer from Dacorum Borough Council led to 2,080 cigarettes, 139 pouches of hand rolling tobacco, 2.7 litres of spirits and 113 bottles of wine.Officers acting on prior intelligence targeted six commercial premises, four of which had stock that raised concerns.
They were also accompanied by a tobacco detection dog which helped find concealed stashes of tobacco at some of the premises that were visited. The seized products will now be assessed and tested to see if any offences have been committed.
