LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department during strict action against token tax defaulter and unregistered vehicles has retained documents of 637 vehicles from different parts of Sheikhupura and its surrounding areas.
According to Motor Branch Director Suhail Arshad, the department is very vigilant against defaulters, especially those using their vehicles without registration.
As per details available with Customs Today, the Excise Motor Branch during February checked 2,796 vehicles in different cities of the district and found 637 vehicles default.
The department also impounded 40 vehicles on default of token tax.
Millions of rupees were recovered from owners of defaulter vehicles after retaining of documents.
Most of the citizens got their documents released after paying their default amount.
Suhail Arshad is very vigilant in Lahore region for registration of new vehicles and collection of token tax.
On special directives of Suhail Arshad, Sheikhupura ETO formed special teams to check vehicles on roads. These teams established checkpoints in Sheikhupura, Muridke, Narang Mandi and Kot Abdul Malik retained documents of hundreds of vehicles and impounded 40 vehicles as well.
