LAHORE: Customs Union Lahore has urged Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to cancel transfer orders of 25 Customs officers working in various wings of the Customs Department, including Preventive, Appraisement, Appeals Collectorates and other organs.
The Customs Union held a meeting presided over by the Customs Union President Ameer Haider and discussed various issues confronted by the Customs staff and passed a resolution at the Customs House the other day.
The union resolved that the transfer orders issued of the officials working on Customs strength may be cancelled and their salaries may be restored immediately.
It was further resolved that a departmental committee for the promotion of inspectors may be arranged and the inspectors be awarded next grade.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the last months the FBR has transferred 25 Customs officials from Custom Hose Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan to Regional Tax Office Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad.
However, the officials would not join their duties at the RTOs that prompted the RTO managements to discontinue salaries of the officials.
The Customs union is of the view that these officials legally cannot be transferred from Customs service to Inland Revenue service as decided earlier by the FBR high-ups and court orders in this regard.
