MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a truck loaded with imported cigarettes, chewing tobacco, blankets and tryes worth Rs 11 million in an operation.
As per details, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has received information that a huge quantity of foreign-origin goods would be smuggled to Lahore from Quetta.
The team intercepted the truck near Niazi Chowk Khanewal.
During the raid of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team the driver of the truck fled from the scene.
During the examination, cigarettes and chewing tobacco were concealed under blankets and tyres.
The truck was loaded with imported cigarettes Brand 99 of American-origin. The cigarettes were contained in 150 cartons and the total packets carried 75,000 cigarettes.
Chewing tobacco, Guru Ratna brand of Zafarani Patti of Indian-origin, was also loaded on the truck.
The truck also carried 250 imported blankets along with 280 tyres of Bridgestone, Dunlop and Michelin.
The total customs duty and taxes of the seized goods were approximately Rs 4.9 million and the value of seized truck was Rs 2.5 million.
