KARACHI: Customs Collectorate Collector Adjudication-II is going to hold the hearing into the massive tax evasion case tune to Rs 10 million approximately against the importer M/s Paramount Corporation Limited on February 11 (Wednesday).
According to details, the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Appraisement (East) in month of October 2014 constituted a tax evasion case against the importer M/s Paramount Corporation in its alleged involvement in violation of description, quantity and classification in import of motorcycle spare parts.
The sources informed Customs Today that the R&D Section of MCC-Appraisement (East) during scrutiny of the import data of importer M/s Paramount Corporation Limited found that the said importer was allegedly involved in clearance of motorcycle spare parts through mis-declaration of description, value, quantity and classification of the consignments.
Subsequently, the R&D Section has made Contravention Report (CR) against the importer M/s Paramount Corporation in the month of October and forwarded to the authorities concerned of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II.
Reacting on the contravention report sent by the R&D Section, the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II has served show cause notice to the importer M/s Paramount Corporation Limited on 11-Nov-2014 in which it asked the importer M/s Paramount Corporation to present its view point on 19-Nov-2014.
It is pertinent to mention here that it was a fourth hearing into the tax evasion case against the importer M/s Paramount Corporation on Feb-11 since, the case was un-earthed. However, the departmental representative (DR) by Pakistan Customs has not yet called to produce its view point into a single hearing regarding the case.
