SHANGHAI: China, import-export Exim Bank signed a deal of 185 million dollar loan with Bangladesh for the construction of six new ships.The new buildings comprise of three bulk carriers and three oil tankers.
State owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) owns a fleet of eight vessels with five in operation. The ship owner seeks to renew its fleet as the average age of its fleet is over 30 years old.
China EximBank extended a loan of $312m to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC), for the construction of three 18,000 teu containerships.
