LAHORE: Car Dealers Association has decided to observe a shutter down strike to protest against the Punjab Excise and Taxation for their action against dealers and car purchasers.
Shahzada Saleem, chairman of the association, told Customs Today that the Punjab Excise is not working as per their duties. Excise teams are harassing the customers on Jail Road. He alleged that any customer who purchases a car from Jail Road becomes a prey to the excise teams. These teams harass the customers in the name of registration and token tax. Any customer who purchases a car and just leaves for his home, it is not possible for him to get registration at the time because facilities are not available here. It is also a fault of the Excise Department which could not complete the registration of vehicles at show rooms.
The chairman said that they will keep their show rooms close on Tuesday and will protest against the department.
