DHAKA: The deadline for Bangladesh taxpayers to file income tax returns has been extended by a month. National Board of Revenue (NBR) official Syed Mumen said those who have not filed tax returns, have to file it by Nov 2.
He said the time has been extended because of Haj and Eid, adding the date last year was finally settled at Dec 31 after several extensions, even though the income-tax ordinance says returns must be filed by Sept 30. The income tax fair this year fetched Tk 16.75 billion that is Tk 5.57 billion more than last year’s collection. NBR Chairman Ghulam Hussain asserted this was the record collection of income tax.
