KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West on Thursday held two separate meetings with the officials of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) and Department Audit Committee (DAC).
Sources told Custom Today that MCC Appraisement-West reviewed the ongoing pace of work on audit paras, pending in those departments.
Sources further informed that Appraisement-West with the assistance of PCA have finalised the audit paras of the period from 1996 to 1998, while the audit paras during the time frame from the year 2003 to 2004 have been finalised in DAC meeting.
They further disclosed that the DAC has already certified the audit paras and cases which have been established during the time frame 1990-1994.
To a query, sources revealed that Customs authorities while following the directives of FBR are taking keen interest in the audit paras established by PCA and DAC.
It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities concerned of all three field formation Collectorates have not yet paid any heed towards the audit paras sent by the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs to the MCC-Appraisement-East, MCC-Appraisement (West) and MCC-Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.
It may also be mentioned here that the Internal Audit-Customs have already sent audit paras detecting billions of rupees leakages in consignments of steel billets, telecommunication, fabrics and other imported items.
