ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed to have recovered 105kg of narcotics and arrested six drug smugglers. The ANF also impounded three vehicles during raids in Faisalabad, Lahore, Mansehra, Peshawar and Gwadar.
The seized narcotics included 103kg hashish, 1.2kg opium, 500 grams heroin and 400 grams amphetamine.
According to details, the Balochistan ANF seized 93kg of charas from a site in coastal area of Shimal Bandan in Tehsil Pasni of Gwadar district.
However, the drug peddlers managed to escape from the scene.
In Peshawar, the ANF arrested an Afghan national identified as Aman Khan with 1-kg of Charas while travelling in a passenger van Hiace (LES-1110) near Motorway Toll Plaza. The accused was trying to transport the drugs to Rawalpindi.
In another raid near main Motorway Toll Plaza, the force apprehended a passenger Imran Khan, a resident of Kurram Agency along with 500 gram heroin. The drug was concealed in his shoes. The initial investigation revealed that the accused was trying to deliver the drugs to Gujrat.
In Mansehra, the ANF nabbed a local drug supplier identified as Nazir Muahmmad, a resident of Mansehra with 4 kgs of charas. The force intercepted him while riding a motor bike (RIK-805) near Bus Stand.
In Faisalabad, the ANF intercepted a Suzuki Mehran Car (W-6404-Sindh) near main Motorway Interchange and recovered 7.2kg of charas and 1.2kgs of opium. The force also arrested a drug peddler Farman Ullah, a resident of Peshawar.
Later, on the pointation of the accused, another peddler identified as Rasheed Ahmed, a resident of Faisalabad was also arrested.
In Lahore, the ANF nailed a passenger Shahid Butt, a resident of Lahore at Allama Iqbal International Airport and recovered 400 grams of amphetamine from his possession. He was trying to board Air Blue Flight PA-470 for Jeddah.
